A Richmond businesswoman is preparing to make a skydive on 21st July, to raise funds for this year’s Christmas Fair in Richmond.
For the second year running Wendy Robinson, of Granny’s Kitchen in Finkle Street, is a driving force behind the organisation of the town’s Christmas Fair.
Wendy also happens to have a fear of heights.
Wendy explains: “Last year we organised a Christmas Fair for our beloved town, Richmond, in a very short space of time and started with a big fat zero in our bank account. This year our plans are bigger and better and require more funding!
“A skydive has always been on my bucket list, so I thought I would stop myself from chickening out, by raising money for our Christmas Fair alongside trying to banish my fear of heights!”

Wendy’s skydive is part of Richmond’s first ever Christmas in July which runs from 19th-25th July.
The Coffee Morning at Richmond Town Hall on Saturday 19th July will be another fund-raiser for the Christmas Fair. Everyone is welcome and to mark the occasion there will be Santa hats, mince pies and maybe even a Christmas carol or two!
Between 19th and 25th July, The Green Howards Museum will be holding a mid-year celebration full of festive cheer, family fun, and a little bit of history. All the details are available here.
You may also spot Christmas decorations in shop window displays around the town!
