Business owners in Richmond have been busy creating displays for the annual Easter Window Dressing Competition. Great imagination was shown in decorating windows, which made judging difficult for Paul Harrison, Chair of the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association.
Certificates were presented in each of the three categories, with Age UK receiving a trophy as the overall winner:
- Best Retail Gift display: Antique Haven, Frenchgate
- Best Retail Non-Gift display: Age UK, Finkle Street
- Best Non-Retail display: Richmond Heritage Home Improvements, King Street
Paul Harrison was full of praise for everyone who had contributed to the success of this year’s event: “Participants have shown a lot of effort to make their windows look appealing for Easter shoppers and visitors. The windows have created considerable interest and are yet another reason to shop locally. Thank you to Alyson Swift for organising the competition and all those who have taken part.
“The Easter Windows competition is a perfect start to a very busy period for Richmond. With Richmond MayFest running from 2nd-5th May, our Saturday market seeing an increasing amount of trade and plenty of top-quality independent shops, cafes and restaurants, there is plenty to attract shoppers and visitors alike.”
